Disclaimer
Last updated September 21, 2026
Please read these notices before relying on anything on this website or before contacting the firm.
1. Information only — not legal advice
All information on this website is provided for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Legal outcomes depend on the particular facts of each matter and on law that changes frequently. Only a lawyer who has reviewed your circumstances can advise you on them.
No one should act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of information on this site without first obtaining legal advice from a qualified lawyer licensed in the relevant jurisdiction.
2. No solicitor-client relationship
Using this website, reading its contents, sending us an email, calling the firm, or messaging us through social media does not create a solicitor-client relationship. A solicitor-client relationship with Ponce de Leon Law arises only after we have completed a conflict-of-interest check, confirmed in writing that we are able to act for you, and agreed on the terms of a written retainer.
3. Do not send confidential information
Please do not send us confidential or sensitive information until we have confirmed in writing that we act for you. Information sent to us before then may not be protected by solicitor-client privilege and may be subject to disclosure to third parties.
Email and social media messages are not secure. They may be intercepted, lost or altered in transit, and messages sent through Facebook are handled by Meta Platforms under its practices rather than ours. Please do not use social media to send anything you would not want disclosed.
4. Where the firm practises
Mary Ponce de Leon-Barracoso is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario as a Barrister and Solicitor, having been admitted to the Ontario Bar in February 2024, and is also a member of the Philippine Bar, admitted in 2017.
The firm's family law services are offered in Ontario only. Its immigration services concern Canadian immigration law, which is federal. Nothing on this site is an offer, or an indication of willingness, to practise law in any jurisdiction in which the firm is not licensed, and nothing here is advice on the law of any jurisdiction outside Canada.
5. No guarantee of results
Every matter turns on its own facts. Nothing on this site — including descriptions of the firm's practice, experience, or approach — is a promise, guarantee or prediction about the outcome of any matter.
Processing times and decisions of courts, tribunals and government decision-makers, including Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, are outside the firm's control.
6. Accuracy and currency
This site has been prepared with care, but legislation, regulations, government policy and case law change often, sometimes at short notice. We make no representation that the content is accurate, complete or current, and we are under no obligation to update it.
7. No claim of certified specialization
The Law Society of Ontario certifies lawyers as specialists in defined areas of practice. Nothing on this website should be read as a claim that the firm or any of its lawyers is a certified specialist, or as a comparison with the services of any other lawyer or firm.
8. Fees
Any reference on this site to competitive or affordable fees is a general statement about the firm's approach, not a quotation. Fees depend on the nature and complexity of the matter and on the work required, and are set out in a written retainer agreed before the work begins.
9. Photographs
Except for the photograph of Mary Ponce de Leon-Barracoso, the photographs on this site are licensed stock images used for illustration. They do not depict clients of the firm, actual matters, or the firm's premises, and no relationship between any person shown and the firm should be inferred.
10. Third-party links and social media
Links to other websites are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement. The firm is not responsible for the content, accuracy or privacy practices of any site it links to.
Comments, reviews, messages and other content posted by third parties on the firm's Facebook page are the views of the people who posted them, not of the firm. Nothing posted on social media by the firm is legal advice.
11. Limitation of liability
Any liability for action taken, or not taken, on the basis of the content of this website is expressly disclaimed, to the fullest extent permitted by law. This does not affect the firm's obligations to its clients under a signed retainer, which are governed by that retainer and by the professional obligations of an Ontario lawyer. Our full limitation of liability is set out in the terms of use.
