Terms of use
Last updated September 21, 2026
These terms govern your access to and use of pdllawpc.ca, the website of Ponce de Leon Law Professional Corporation. By using this site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. This site is information, not legal advice
Everything on this website is general information about the firm and about areas of law in which it practises. It is not legal advice, it is not a substitute for advice from a lawyer about your own situation, and it is not tailored to any particular set of facts.
Do not act, or decide not to act, on the basis of anything you read here without obtaining legal advice about your specific circumstances.
2. No solicitor-client relationship
Using this website, reading its contents, sending us an email, calling the firm, or messaging us through social media does not create a solicitor-client relationship. A solicitor-client relationship with Ponce de Leon Law arises only after we have completed a conflict-of-interest check, confirmed in writing that we are able to act for you, and agreed on the terms of a written retainer.
Please do not send us confidential or sensitive information until we have confirmed in writing that we act for you. Information sent to us before then may not be protected by solicitor-client privilege and may be subject to disclosure to third parties.
3. Where the firm is licensed
Mary Ponce de Leon-Barracoso is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario as a Barrister and Solicitor and is also a member of the Philippine Bar. The firm's family law services are offered in Ontario only. Its immigration services concern Canadian immigration law, which is federal.
Nothing on this site is an offer or a willingness to practise law in any jurisdiction in which the firm is not licensed to do so.
4. Intellectual property
The text, design, layout, graphics and firm name and wordmark on this site are owned by Ponce de Leon Law Professional Corporation or used under licence, and are protected by Canadian and international copyright and trade-mark law.
You may view this site, and download or print individual pages, for your own personal and non-commercial information, provided you keep all copyright and other proprietary notices intact. Any other use — reproducing, republishing, modifying, distributing, framing, or using any part of this site for a commercial purpose — requires our prior written permission.
The photographs on this site are licensed from third parties. They may not be extracted from the site or reused separately from it.
5. Acceptable use
When using this site, you agree not to:
- Use it for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that breaches these terms
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, the server it runs on, or any connected system
- Introduce any virus, malware, or other malicious or technologically harmful material
- Scrape, harvest, data-mine, or systematically extract content from the site by automated means, including for the purpose of training an automated or machine learning system
- Interfere with the site's operation or place an unreasonable load on it
- Impersonate the firm or misrepresent your affiliation with it
6. Links to third-party websites
This site links to the firm's Facebook page and may link to other external resources. Those links are provided for convenience only. We do not control those sites, we do not endorse their content by linking to them, and we are not responsible for anything they contain or for any loss arising from your use of them.
7. Availability of the site
This site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may change, suspend, restrict or withdraw all or part of it at any time and without notice. We do not warrant that it will be available uninterrupted, that it will be free of errors, or that it or the server that makes it available will be free of viruses or other harmful components.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all representations, warranties and conditions of any kind relating to this site and its content, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, and any warranty that the content is accurate, complete or current.
The law changes, and content prepared at one time may not reflect the law as it now stands.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, neither the firm nor its lawyers, employees or agents will be liable for any damages of any kind — direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or otherwise — arising out of or in connection with your access to, use of, or inability to use this site, or your reliance on anything it contains, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. In particular, these terms do not limit, exclude or otherwise affect the firm's obligations to its clients in respect of legal services provided under a signed retainer. Those obligations are governed by the retainer, by the law of Ontario, and by the professional obligations of an Ontario lawyer, and nothing on this website varies them.
10. Privacy
Personal information collected through or in connection with this site is handled in accordance with our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
11. Accessibility
We aim to make this site usable by as many people as possible, and to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. If you encounter a barrier on this site, or need information from it in an accessible format or with communication support, contact us and we will work with you to provide it in a way that takes your needs into account.
12. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with this site, are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, subject to any right you may have under consumer protection legislation to bring proceedings elsewhere.
13. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms at any time by posting a revised version on this page. Your continued use of the site after a revision is posted means you accept it. This version took effect on September 21, 2026.
14. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision is severed and the remaining provisions continue in full force.
